Cemboard Construction Guide

Step 1 : Prepare Tools and Materials

  • Cemboard panels according to required size
  • Steel or wooden frame
  • Specialized drill and screw
  • Waterproof glue, joint treatment putty
  • Ruler, marker

Step 2 : Install the Frame

  • Use steel or wooden frames to create load-bearing structures.
  • Distance between the bars depends on the thickness of the Cemboard panel:
    • Floor: 40cm - 60cm
    • Partition: 60cm - 80cm
  • Fix the frame firmly before installing the Cemboard panel.

Step 3 : Cut and Install Cemboard Panels

  • Cut Cemboard panels with specialized cutting machines to ensure accuracy.
  • Fix the Cemboard panel to the frame with self-drilling screws, the distance between screws is 20-30cm.
  • Note to leave expansion gap of 3-5mm between panels.

Step 4 : Joint and Surface Treatment

  • Use specialized joint treatment glue or waterproof putty to cover the gaps.
  • Wait for it to dry and then use sandpaper to smooth the surface before painting or tiling.

Step 5 : Finish

  • Paint or tile depending on usage needs.
  • Check the entire structure again, make sure there are no technical errors before putting it into use.

Frequently asked questions

With its outstanding advantages, Cemboard cement board is considered a high-quality construction material that meets many requirements in the construction industry. Some notable features of this product include: excellent load-bearing capacity, fire resistance, waterproofing, no termite damage, no harmful asbestos, easy installation, and a durability of up to 50 years.

Absolutely. Thanks to its superior waterproof and anti-leakage properties, Cemboard protects surfaces from mold and water damage. However, the water resistance also depends on the quality of the material and the production process. Choosing imported products from Thailand ensures higher quality and reliability.

Yes, tiles can be easily installed on Cemboard. To achieve the best adhesion, it’s recommended to use tile adhesive specifically designed for cement materials.
Cemboard is often used as a base layer before tiling or flooring, especially in high-moisture areas like bathrooms and kitchens. Using Cemboard as an underlayment not only enhances durability but also improves waterproofing for the tiles above.

The weight of Cemboard depends on its thickness, size, and the manufacturer. For example, Thai Cemboard with dimensions of 1220x2440mm and thickness ranging from 3.5mm to 18mm will have weights ranging from 16kg to 85kg.

The load-bearing capacity of Cemboard depends on its thickness, size, and installation method. According to ASTM C 1185 standards, the load-bearing capacity of Cemboard can reach up to 1260kg/m³, making it suitable for use as a suspended floor in construction projects.

The fire resistance of Cemboard depends on its composition, material quality, and installation conditions. Most types of Cemboard are designed to withstand fire for 1 to 4 hours. This provides additional time for evacuation and rescue in case of a fire, enhancing safety for people and property.

The lifespan of Cemboard typically lasts several decades, and it can even reach up to 50 years if installed, maintained, and used properly. Environmental conditions and maintenance methods also significantly affect the durability of this material.

Yes, Cemboard can be securely fixed directly onto concrete surfaces using screws or nails. This method saves time and effort compared to more complex installation techniques, ensuring stability for the structure.
