Wear Class (AC Rating) – A measure of surface durability
AC (Abrasion Class) is an index showing the scratch resistance of the floor surface, specified in standard EN 13329.
Classified as follows:
- AC1 – AC2 : Rarely used, rarely used bedroom (currently rarely used)
- AC3 : House, living room
- AC4 : High-end housing, office, light commercial
- AC5 : Shopping malls, supermarkets, public spaces
Note:
The higher the AC, the thicker and more durable the scratch-resistant layer, but it also comes with a higher price.

Decorative paper , also known as wood grain film , is a layer of paper printed with patterns simulating natural wood grain , creating an aesthetic element for the floor.
This film is usually printed using 4D, 5D technology, combined with hot pressing to match the EIR (Embossed in Register) grain layer.
Characteristic:
- Can simulate oak, walnut, maple, cement, marble,...
- Each brand has its own film – creating a unique identity
- Covered with melamine resin to keep color & surface durability.
DIN EN 13329 Standard – European industrial wood flooring standards
This is a set of European technical standards specifically for laminate flooring (prepared by the German Standards Institute DIN & EN Union):
Including test items:
- Abrasion Rating (AC Rating)
- Impact resistance
- Heat and humidity resistance
- Surface durability, fading, scratching
- Chemical and stain resistance...
Meaning:
Wooden floors meeting DIN EN 13329 standards are strictly tested products - ensuring high quality, suitable for construction in environments with high frequency of use such as houses, offices, showrooms.
DPL – Direct Pressure Laminate
DPL is the technology of direct pressing of multiple layers of laminate flooring. The entire structure includes:
- Abrasion resistant surface layer
- Decorative paper layer (wood grain film)
- HDF wood core
- Moisture-proof bottom layer
All layers are pressed directly together under high temperature and pressure (about 200°C – 800–1200 PSI) to form a complete board.
E0 / E1 / E2 Certificate
E0 / E1 / E2 is a European standard certification for formaldehyde emission levels - a toxic gas that can affect health if exceeded.
According to the regulations :
- E0: Very safe (≤ 0.050 ppm)
- E1 ≤ 0.124 mg/m³ (absolutely safe for health)
- E2 is the higher level – now removed from the European market
Meaning: If the wooden floor has E0 / E1
certificate , it means you can safely install it in the bedroom, children's room, closed space without fear of toxic glue smell or respiratory effects.
HDF (High-Density Fiberboard) - Brown wood core
Brown core HDF is the most popular type in the laminate flooring industry thanks to its reasonable cost and relatively high stability. It is made from crushed natural wood fibers , combined with specialized glue pressed at high pressure, achieving an average density of about 800–850 kg/m³
HDF (Greencore) - Green wood core
HDF Greencore is a special type of HDF core wood processed with improved moisture-proof technology, often with a characteristic green color (due to moisture-proof additives added during the production process). This wood panel has a higher compression than standard, density from 850-880 kg/m³ , suitable for use in environments with medium to high humidity like Vietnam's climate.
CDF (HDF Black Core) - Black wood core
CDF , also known as black core HDF , is a type of wood fiber plywood with an extremely high compression density, usually over 900 kg/m³ . The characteristic black color is not due to dyeing, but is the result of a deep drying process & extremely tight compression of wood fibers at high temperatures, causing the wood to almost slightly carbonize , creating a natural black color and a super hard surface.
MGO (Magnesium Oxide Board)
MGO is a new outstanding material, not made from wood, but from Magnesium Oxide combined with stone powder and mineral fibers. This is a waterproof flooring solution , capable of replacing both HDF and tile materials.
Moisture-proof layer
This is a method of installing flooring without the use of glue, thanks to the special design of the locking joints. The advantages of this system are that it is easy to install, saves time and can be removed for reuse when necessary.

CE – Certification for export to the European market
CE (Conformité Européenne) : Product marking allows circulation in Europe , ensuring compliance with all regulations on quality, health and safety.
FSC – Forest Stewardship Council
Is a certificate proving that the wood used in the product is legally harvested and sustainably regenerated .
Highly appreciated in demanding markets such as the EU, US, and Japan.
PEFC – Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification
Similar to FSC – this is a certification that ensures wood comes from sustainably managed forests , focusing on small & medium scale.
CARB P2 – California Air Resources Board Phase 2
Formaldehyde emission certification is very strict in the US.
CARB P2 requires formaldehyde emission level ≤ 0.05 ppm , equivalent to E0.
Many high-end flooring lines imported into the US need to meet this standard.
FSC – Forest Stewardship Council
Is a certificate proving that the wood used in the product is legally harvested and sustainably regenerated .
Highly appreciated in demanding markets such as the EU, US, and Japan.
VOC – Volatile Organic Compounds
Test the total amount of volatile organic gases emitted from the wood floor (including formaldehyde, toluene, acetone...).
Low VOC helps protect respiratory health when installed in a confined space.
Slip Resistance (R9 – R13) - Slip resistance index
Is a scale to measure the anti-slip ability of the floor surface (applied to plastic floors, tiles, outdoor floors...)
R9–R11 : Used for residential houses
R12–R13 : Used for wet, public areas
EN 438 / EN 13329 – Laminate flooring assessment standards
